5.11's XPRT 3.0 Waterproof 6-Inch, $209.99 The Footprint: The XPRT, which is packed with technology, is designed to exceed the standards set by the most extreme users. It has a Vibram Megagrip on the outsole, an eVent blood-borne pathogen waterproof lining, an Ortholite Imperial footbed for higher energy return and less fatigue, and a Kevlar heel for side- and ankle-abrasion protection. Designed with feedback from professionals in the law enforcement and outdoors fields, it comes in a dark coyote colorway. Brendan Rynne, Category Manager Footwear: "The tactical boot world will follow the cur- rent trends of athletic shoes with the addition of modern construction like knitted uppers, 3D printing and other new technologies. The tactical footwear industry specifically needs to determine how these new technologies work within their space to meet the specific needs of our tactical consumers." Bates' Maneuver OPS10 Waterproof Side-Zip, $185 The Footprint: The new Maneuver captures the comfort and performance of athletic platforms, yet is durable enough to fulfill the require- ments of law-enforcement clients. The boot, which is fully lined with Quantum 5 cooling fiber for comfort on long shifts, features a 10mm drop on its all-terrain Vibram rubber outsole. It gets its stability from a lightweight, flexible polyurethane core. Eric Fracassi, Director of Product Development: "Because our boots are worn with uniforms, we have certain limitations. We will continue to defy expectations and deliver best-in-class footwear by constantly working with our con- sumers to get valuable insight through the use of market intelligence, virtual prototypes and field testing." Fila's Chastizer, $100 The Footprint: Lightweight and durable, the leather/mesh/synthetic Chastizer has an athletic profile. An inside zipper makes it a cinch to slip on and off, a sock liner, padded tongue and collar provide a comfortable fit and the mesh upper allows it to breathe free. Joe Amoruso, Work Category Manager, North America: "The work boot of the future is lean- ing toward more athletic silhouettes, with an emphasis on color and function, while keeping the footwear lightweight and comfortable. Fila will be offering additional colors beginning in Spring 2019." Magnum's Wild-Fire Tactical 5.0 WP, $90 The Footprint: Incorporating features from the outdoor performance and sports indus- tries, the non-metallic Wild-Fire has a leather upper, a waterproof booty and I-Shield to repel water and stains, a removable Ortholite Impressions insole, a midsole that absorbs shock and an ultra-grip outsole. Martin Meade, VP–sales, Work and Tactical: "I predict the future work boot will be a protec- tive foot covering that not only protects and provides support, but also will have smart tech- nologies that adapt to the individual's body along with the environment the worker is in." 60 • Footwear Insight ~ July/August 2018 HEAVY-DUTY WARRIORS WITH REAL STYLE Magnum's Wild-Fire Tactical 5.0 WP, $90 5.11's XPRT 3.0 Waterproof 6-Inch, $209.99 Fila's Chastizer, $100 Bates' Maneuver OPS10 Waterproof Side-Zip, $185 TACTICAL BOOT BOOK
