THE PARTNERSHIP BET WEEN UMC Health System's cardiology clinics and area providers allows patients to receive the care they need close to home and to remain with their primary care doctor. "After every evaluation, we send the local provider a synopsis of what we found and what we did," said Ralph Paone, M.D., clinical associate professor in the Department of Surgery at Texas Tech University. "In addition, all studies that can be done locally are performed locally." Clinics are located in: + Artesia + Big Spring + Childress + Clovis + Hobbs EASING CARE ACCESS "All of the patient's records, X-rays and tests stay with their local primary care doctor or their local specialist, where they have easier access to care," Dr. Paone said. e cardiology clinics particularly benefit elderly patients who find it difficult to make long drives. "Our team, UMC and Texas Tech have made a big effort to reach out to the surrounding communities," Dr. Paone said. "e satellite clinics feed back into UMC, where patients can access the tertiary services that may not be available locally."
