a nt ibod ies a s say, a nd her R PR t es t wa s
strong ly positive. Treatment of choice is
high-dose IM penicillin. Some even repeat
the injection t wo weeks later. The patient
and partner were referred to the department
of hea lth STD clinic for treatment, pa r tner
testing a nd both for HI V testing. They will
a lso be followed/monitored by that clinic.
The lesions a re what some tex t s refer to
a s "copper pen n ies" (Br itish pen n ies) of
seconda r y sy philis.
