"We have definitely expanded beyond our core over the last 10 years or more," says Schreiner, interviewed during a Sports Insight Extra podcast. "We are continuing to adapt our technology as the trends and the technologies in that space demand different types of functionality. We are looking and expanding into the athletic arena through trail running initially and are now going more aggressively into road running or performance running as well as the casual space." In a recent "Inside the Lab" podcast with Sports Insight Extra, AND1 GM John Scipio explains how the brand will have segmented and differentiated assortments for Walmart and other retailers. Of Garnett, Scipio says, "I think with AND1 we have a creative director/brand ambassador who knows the game and played it at a high level. It's one thing just to use notoriety to bring focus to your brand. But for us, we wanted to make sure we were being authentic to the sport and from a DNA standpoint. Going out and getting someone like Kevin Garnett who has played the game and is also recognizable in the marketplace, is more in line with who we are."
