According to the 2018 State of the Industry Report recently released by SFIA, it is "the state of retail" that takes up two of the top five concerns for many
in the industry. Overall, the sports and fitness market bounced back a bit, with annual growth measuring at 2.4 percent for the year – 2017 – measured
in the report. As far as sports trending upwards, BMX bicycling and cardio tennis are growing fast, while walking and treadmill use are the activities
with the highest participation. Fitness sports (at 64 percent) are the most popular type of sport overall by the U.S. population.
