Central New York 05-820 PUBLISHER from the Thank you very much for reading the January/February edition of MD News. Once again, we examine the world- class health care available right here in Central New York. This issue, our cover feature is on the Heart Group of Syracuse (HGS). As readers of this magazine will recognize, we have all watched HGS grow and prosper over the last eight years. In less than a decade, HGS has built a reputation as a premier provider of established, as well as innovative, treatments for heart rhythm disorders, and it continues to burnish that status in Central New York. Founded in 2011 by board-certified cardiologists, cardiac electrophysiologists and internal medicine physicians Traian M. Anghel, MD, FACC, and Jamal J. Ahmed, MD, FACC, HGS is a full-service cardiology practice that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmias. In the seven-plus years since they established the practice, Drs. Ahmed and Anghel have performed thousands of procedures in all the Syracuse hospitals, and the group has grown to encompass satellite locations in Fulton and Watertown, in addition to its main office in East Syracuse. Our interior feature is also a familiar practice, the Nephrology Associates of Syracuse PC. After celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2018, Nephrology Associates enters its fifth decade of providing convenient, comprehensive care for chronic kidney disease and related conditions while staying true to its roots as an independent practice that puts patients first. Since its establishment in Syracuse in 1978, Nephrology Associates has grown into a regional provider that receives a steady stream of referrals for patients with kidney disease and manages the complex care of individuals receiving hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis. From their main office at 1304 Buckley Road in Syracuse, members of the Nephrology Associates provider team — which includes six nephrologists who are board-certified in both nephrology and internal medicine, three nurse practitioners, two physician assistants and a registered dietitian — travel to satellite locations in Auburn, Camillus, Fayetteville, Fulton and Oneida on a monthly basis so patients can receive care close to where they live and work. Once again, I would like to thank all those who come together to create our magazine. Here at MD News, we are dedicated to delivering an engaging reader experience, one with real local relevance. In each issue, we highlight distinguished and accomplished physicians and practice groups. We also provide updates on the latest medical studies, pointers for managing your practice and a unique look at what is happening in the local medical community. We love to receive nominations for our cover stories, current news within your organization and feedback on articles. I would also like to suggest that you visit mdnews.com to discover a wonderful resource for healthcare marketing. We are here to serve the physician and healthcare community.
