Create Your Weight — Weight Management in a Small Group Setting Don’t Get Sidelined by a Running or Tennis Injury Are you an injured or recovering runner? Do you experience pain from a tennis injury? Attend a free screening at the Nicholas Institute of Sports Medicine and Athletic Trauma at Lenox Hill Hospital. Resource Group for New Parents Preparation for Childbirth The Preparation for Childbirth Lamaze class, offered through the North Shore-LIJ Health System’s Center for Parent Education, prepares the expectant mother and her support person for the birthing experience. Nurse educators will discuss the process of labor and birth, relaxation and breathing techniques, the role of the partner and coaching skills, hospital admission policies and procedures, anesthesia/analgesia options, vaginal and cesarean births, and postpartum expectations. This class should be taken four to six weeks prior to your estimated delivery date. Preparing for Life’s New Journey, a four-week course, addresses topics such as planning for a baby’s arrival, adjusting to your changing body, childproofing your home, nurturing your baby and caring for yourself after birth.
