Ear, Nose and Throat Care CLOSE TO HOME Disorders or diseases that affect the structures of the head, neck and face – such as the inner ear, sinuses, larynx, mouth and throat – can be among the most medically complex issues to treat. Otolaryngology, the longest-standing medical specialty in the United States, requires an ear, nose and throat (ENT) physician to have profound knowledge of all of the physical structures and organs in the neck and head region, excluding the brain and eyes. While more than 50 percent of all physician office visits are for ENT problems, the world of ENT medicine encompasses more than just treating ear infections, allergies and sinus infections. ENT surgeons perform a variety of intricate procedures, including facial reconstructive surgery for craniofacial disorders, thyroid surgery, and cancer-related oral and maxillofacial surgery. Huron Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce the addition of outreach ENT services at the hospital. Midwest Ear, Nose & Throat's outreach clinic now offers treatment for the following ENT-related issues: • adenoids and tonsils • feeding disorders in infants • blocked ears and Eustachian tubes and children • dizziness and balance disorders, • hearing disorders including vertigo • head and neck cancers • dysphagia (swallowing disorder, • nasal, sinus and allergy problems prevalent in stroke patients) • sleep and snoring disorders • speech difficulties Kenneth Scott, MD, provides consultative services and surgical treatment for a broad range of ear, nose and throat conditions, as well as allergy services and follow-up coverage for Dr. Alan Brenner's patients.
