From the CEO DEAR FRIENDS, The Farmers Almanac reminds us fall is just around the corner— beginning September 22. Where did the summer go? Vacation time ends, and before we realize it, we're sending the kids off to school and football season is already starting. This issue of Better Living offers insight for student-athletes in the family. Preparing for the big game starts with a preparticipation physical, and a physical therapist can help keep your son or daughter off the bench. Learn more on page 3. Did you know excellent women's specialty services are offered here in our community? Tuesdays and Thursdays, a clinic in Rhea Medical's Physicians Annex provides women with obstetrics and gynecologic and pregnancy services. Please see page 6 for details about women's health resources provided locally by Drs. Angevine and Smith from University Women's Services. Rhea Medical is pleased to announce a major investment in technology that will make a world of difference for people with gastrointestinal conditions. Our new endoscopy suite features highdefinition imaging systems that provide ever-increasing safety and decreasing screening time. With the new endoscopy suite, Rhea Medical is setting the standard for care in Tennessee, whether it's for treatment of a digestive condition or for a colonoscopy. See pages 4 and 5 for more information. Your family's care remains foremost in all our efforts at Rhea Medical. As your community healthcare institution, we appreciate the trust you place in us. Thank you. Brown Bag Lunch Tips BAGGED LUNCHES FOR KIDS don't have to be boring. Send the kids back to school with simple, inexpensive, and fun sack lunches using these tips. + Mix it up. While sandwiches are the go-to sack lunch option, mix up favorite sandwich fixings by putting them in a wrap or on a bagel. Skip the bag of chips, and instead, skewer fresh fruit, like grapes, for the side. + Free(ze) up space. Freeze a small water bottle overnight; then use it as an ice pack for refrigerated items and as a healthy drink. SINCERELY, Ken Croom Jr. Chief Executive Officer Rhea Medical Center + Make it fun!
