FrankfortRegional.com Your Emergency, Our Priority When time matters during a medical emergency, so does having world-class care. Welcome to the new Emergency Department (ED) at Frankfort Regional Medical Center, where speed and quality care are of the essence. Di Know? You d Frankfort Regional's ED now has its own app! iTriage is a smartphone app that lets us know you're coming to the ED before your arrival. Using the app's iNotify feature, you can send us pertinent information beforehand, such as your name, date of birth and symptoms, which helps us prepare for your arrival and can cut down on your triage time. Scan this code with your smartphone to download iTriage for free. 4 After 18 months and an $8.4 million investment, our expanded, upgraded ED is now ready to serve your needs. We've renovated the existing space and added 2,600 square feet of new space, bringing the total size of our ED to more than 19,500 square feet. The added capacity allowed us to increase the number of patient beds from 18 to 28 and place each bed in its own private room. Patient rooms are now strategically separated into three zones, each with a dedicated care team. This helps streamline ED workflow and fosters a better patient experience. "The layout of the ED is such that patients and staff members in one zone aren't distracted by what's going on in another," says Karen Wooldridge, RN, BSN, MA, Director of Emergency Services at Frankfort Regional. "The perception of our patients is that they're not in an emergency room at all because the rooms feel more like inpatient rooms. It's a much less stressful environment for everyone." The Wait Is Over Having more private beds enhances patient comfort. More importantly, it means our patients receive the treatment they need faster. "Our goal is to provide an immediate bed for every patient," Wooldridge says. "When patients walk in, they're greeted, triaged and immediately taken to a room to begin treatment. There's hardly ever a need to wait." As Wooldridge notes, roughly 98 percent of patients never have to use the beautifully renovated waiting area. Our new Fast Track patient-routing process helps make wait times virtually nonexistent. Five of our 28 beds are Fast Track beds designated specifically for non-emergent patients. These patients are expedited through the ED and are treated by a dedicated physician, nurse and technician
