Less Than Joyful? Your first holiday after the loss of a loved one can be incredibly difficult. While there is no single "right" way to grieve, here are some suggestions to help you better meet the challenges of this difficult time. BREAK THE SILENCE. Don't be afraid to talk about your loved one during the holidays. Encourage others to share their stories about favorite memories. SHED THE GUILT. Feelings of loss are always complicated—even more so during the holidays. Give yourself permission to be happy, sad, and every emotion in between. ACCEPT HELP Whether it's a friend, spouse, or counselor, having someone there . to listen and help you process your feelings can help the holidays feel less lonely.
