Inspirations
BY EMMY B.
AT THE END OF THE DAY…
TAKE A MOMENT FOR YOURSELF AS YOU WRAP UP A BUSY DAY
AND ENJOY THESE POSITIVE THOUGHTS FROM A SACRED HEART
HOSPITAL COLLEAGUE.
IN LATE AUGUST, we lost someone near and dear to our hearts when Father
Edmund Klimek passed away. For more than 45 years, Father Klimek faithfully
cared for the sick, suffering, and dying at Sacred Heart. I had the great privilege
of working closely with him for eight years and had a "front row seat" to witness
his amazing ministry.
Father Klimek enriched my life every single day with his ready smile and
encouraging words. He knew when I needed to talk, when I needed a prayer,
when I needed to be inspired, or when I needed a laugh. I will miss the sparkle of
joy I always saw in his eyes. I will miss the beautiful Masses he celebrated in the
Father Christopher Chapel at Sacred Heart. I will miss him reminding me to take life "one day at a time."
But in this season of thankfulness, I would be remiss if I didn't remember with gratitude the precious time I had on
this earth with Father Klimek. The day before he passed away, I asked Father if he would continue to watch over me,
even after he was gone. He smiled and gently squeezed my hand, saying softly, "I've always watched out for you. I'm
not going to stop now."
Note to self: As the late Father Lawrence Dunklee once said, "Although our loved ones may not be with us in body,
they truly are always with us in spirit. They are in our minds, in our memories, and above all, in our hearts."
