With so much excitement here, we couldn't help but share some of the many ways we're meeting the needs of children across South Central Texas and beyond. With the holidays fast approaching, two of our pediatric dietitians put together a fun and informative feature about creating new and healthy traditions. Don't miss their helpful tips. Child life specialists at the Children's Hospital of San Antonio play an important role during the course of a child's diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Because of their unique expertise, they bring helpful insight Patrick B. Carrier into family life and raising children. Two of these child life specialists have interesting things to say about the importance of reading and music in a child's life. You may be surprised by what you will learn. While continuing to provide care to our patients, we are transforming our downtown campus into the new Children's Hospital of San Antonio. As the first freestanding children's hospital in the city, the new facility will enhance every aspect of care for children: a larger emergency room, 12 operating rooms, and new patient rooms — all specifically designed for children and their families. Plus, in collaboration with Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital, we have already added more than 55 Baylor College of Medicine faculty members to our outstanding private practice physicians. Thank you for entrusting us with serving your family as we work to set a world-class standard of care for children. President and CEO: Patrick B. Carrier, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System Publisher: Melissa C. Krause, Director, Strategic Marketing and Communications Managing Editor: Lindsey Grizzelle, Manager, Strategic Marketing and Communications 2 We are grateful for generous contributions to our environment of healing and hope at the Children's Hospital of San Antonio. Most recently, The USAA Foundation, Harvey E. Najim, and the Najim Family Foundation donated beacon gifts to help with our major construction project now underway. Goldsbury Foundation also designated a major grant to create family-centered amenities, including children's play areas, and to promote community health and wellness. These donations help us fulfill our mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to the children of San Antonio and beyond. Community partnership and generosity are vital. This massive project depends on support at all levels. December is the last month to make a year-end, tax-deductible donation to the Children's Hospital of San Antonio Foundation. We invite you to consider making a gift today. Visit us online at santarosafoundation.org or call us at 210.704.2800. chofsa.org
