AT THE END OF THE DAY…
TAKE A MOMENT FOR YOURSELF AS YOU WRAP UP A BUSY DAY
AND ENJOY THESE POSITIVE THOUGHTS FROM A SACRED HEART
HOSPITAL COLLEAGUE.
A GOOD FRIEND of mine is a New Year's resolution aficionado. Every January 1,
she makes a list of five resolutions she is determined to keep. Much to her chagrin,
by February 1 her resolutions have gone by the wayside. Most people choose the same
type of resolutions every year, such as lose weight, exercise more, or get out of debt.
So I asked her if she'd be open to a fresh alternative for 2014: This year, we would pick
resolutions that spoke to our hearts. She was intrigued enough to give it a try.
We went out for coffee and brainstormed resolutions that would help us
embrace an attitude of gratefulness amid the stress-filled world in which we all
live. Here's our list of new and improved resolutions for 2014:
1. On my daily drive to work, list three things I'm grateful for. They can be as significant as a loving family and a
fulfilling job, or as trivial as getting a close parking spot when the wind chill plummets to an unforgiving 20 below.
2. Instead of focusing on how stressed I am, remember how blessed I am.
3. Use my voice for good—to inspire, to encourage, and to offer compassion and understanding.
4. Never let fear be the deciding factor in my choices.
5. Accept what is, let go of what was, and have faith in what could be.
Note to self: Stick to my heart-filled resolutions and pray for a year overflowing with blessings.
