Tablet trends by laura Ward A of an AmericanEHR Partners survey, "Tablet Usage by Physicians 2013," tablet use consumes about 25 hours per week among physicians who utilize both electronic health record (EHR) systems and tablets. Overall, the most common uses for tablets, according to the survey of 696 physicians and 150 other health professionals, were: + email — 73 percent CCo r d i N g to r e S u lt S + EHR access — 70 percent + medication research — 68 percent Among practices with three or fewer physicians, tablet users were more likely to engage in a wider range of activities, from banking to communicating with patients to snapping clinical photos. Many hospitalists and other physicians find the mobility of a tablet makes it a convenient way to record patient information and notes on the go, as well as streamline workflow by allowing them to access and share information, Today's Hospitalist reported in 2012. To make the most of the technology they have in hand, many physicians are equipping their tablets with timesaving apps.
