from the Publisher ELLO, PHYSICIANS AND healthcare executives of Minnesota. Thank you for taking the time to read our March issue of MD News. We have some exciting news to share about the future of MD News and how we continue to adapt to the suggestions and needs of the Minnesota healthcare community. This year, we have made some dramatic enhancements to the publication; most noteworthy is our increased distribution. We will now be delivered statewide and reach more than 14,000 practicing physicians and healthcare executives throughout Minnesota every month. Combining this with our new and improved e-newsletter and digital editions, we have become the highest-viewed physician-focused publication in the state! This increased distribution comes directly at the request of our readers. We understand there is an urgent need to reach physicians outside the metro, and we are here to communicate your message. This issue features Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare as our cover story. We spoke to them about one of their Centers of Excellence, the Gillette Center for Pediatric Neurosciences, and their commitment to provide comprehensive medicine and maximize patient care and outcomes. Read more about this unique specialty in this month's cover story. Our special clinical section focuses on orthopedics and pain management. We were fortunate to speak to specialists on a variety of topics ranging from the referral process and benefits of using a specialist to protocols for successful pain management. We spoke with Andrew Will, MD, Medical Director of Twin Cities Pain Clinic, about the benefits of partnering with specialists who focus on conquering chronic pain. We also spoke with Jack Drogt, MD, President of Summit Orthopedics, along with Penny Lepinski, Pain Management Consultant at HealthEast Care System, about how improving protocols can result in higher patient satisfaction. In addition, MD News examines the ways bone fracture risk and Type 2 diabetes are linked. We also consider the role some cognitive behavioral therapists are playing to help patients with chronic pain find relief. I hope you find these and all the articles in MD News engaging and relevant. On the business side of health care, we spoke to Jeff Cowan, Co-CEO of Creekridge Capital, about how their focus on developing and implementing innovative financial solutions for the healthcare community has helped organizations meet goals and improve bottom lines. Speaking with Jeff was very informative and educational — you will not want to miss this article. Our CEO Perspective this month comes from Joel Oberstar, MD, CEO of PrairieCare. Upcoming focus issues: + May: women's health and gynecologic health + June: men's health and infertility + July: neurosciences and degenerative disease + August: pediatrics and autism + September: senior health Please contact me if you'd like to discuss topics for future issues.
