4 christussantarosa.org Our Commitment to In response to community needs for better access to healthcare services in South-Central Texas and beyond, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa opened two Freestanding Emergency Centers — one in Alon Town Centre and one in New Braunfels Town Center at Creekside. Staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and furnished with state-of-the-art equipment, the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Freestanding Emergency Center – Alon and the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Freestanding Emergency Center – Creekside provide the same high level of care as Emergency Departments within our facilities throughout the region. (See "Emergency Services Locations" on page 5.) WHEN SECONDS MAT TER The CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Emergency Centers – Alon and Creekside are prepared to handle all types of critical, emergency situations — from chest pain and stroke symptoms to broken bones and sports injuries. Because the Centers are part of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System, patients also have access to the same specialists who staff CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospitals. "In addition to a team of board-certified physicians and highly experienced Emergency Department nurses, each Emergency Center has a dedicated Laboratory and Radiology suite, featuring X-ray, ultrasound, and CT scanning," says Timothy Curran, MD, medical director of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Emergency Center – Creekside. "CHRISTUS Santa Rosa specialists and support staff provide streamlined and efficient admission for patients needing evaluation and care beyond the Emergency Department. Essentially, the freestanding Emergency Centers function as extensions of the Hospitals." REDUCING EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT WAIT TIMES According to the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, over the past 20 years, the number of patients seeking emergency care has increased by 30 percent while the number of Emergency Departments has decreased by 20 percent, resulting in long wait times and delayed assistance. Designed to alleviate the distress caused by having to spend hours in the waiting room, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa developed a 5/30 care commitment. Patients can expect their care process to begin within five minutes of arrival to the Emergency Department center and can expect to see a physician within 30 minutes. CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System's Freestanding Emergency Centers provide timely, convenient access to emergency medical care when seconds matter most. Emergency Care
