WELCOME to the first issue of our all-new Vital Signs magazine. We're excited about this opportunity to share health and wellness information with you, as well as news about your community health partner—King's Daughters' Health. As your community healthcare provider, KDH is keenly aware of the financial squeeze families are feeling. We understand more health expenses are coming out of your pockets, and we are looking for ways we can help. That's why we've reduced your costs by as much as 30 percent for many routine services, including CT scans, MRI exams, colonoscopies, arthroscopies and various laboratory tests. This is a part of KDH's commitment to increased access to local care. I'm pleased to tell you about our new partnership with Studer Group ® , which works with healthcare organizations to enhance quality, expand services and increase financial viability. We expect this partnership to identify new areas for improvement in ways we care for our patients. We want KDH to be the best place possible for our physicians to practice and our colleagues to work. This month, we are acknowledging our staff for the many ways they add an extra measure of care in everything they do every day. For example, I heard from a mom who was amazed by the attention she received from the KDH OB/GYN team during and after her delivery. Carol Dozier, CEO Dear Friends and Neighbors, SPRING www.kdhmadison.org She says she received two follow-up calls to make sure she and the baby were doing OK and to answer any questions she had. That's the KDH difference. You can read more about our OB/GYN team and new provider Victoria Shirley, DO, on page 8. As your community hospital, our commitment is to always listen to you. You are our friends, neighbors and family members, and we are grateful for the opportunity to serve you. I hope you enjoy the new Vital Signs magazine. Wishing you wellness, Carol Dozier President and CEO, King's Daughters' Health ON THE COVER: Jay and Kim Crawford get in some healthy activity along a local scenic trail.
