Somerset Medical Center and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital will finalize their merger having both earned an "A" Spring 2014 Hospital Safety Score from The Leapfrog Group, an indepen- dent national nonprofit run by employers and other large purchas- ers of health benefits. Only 32 percent of the more than 2,500 hospitals analyzed nationwide earned an A, the highest patient safety rating, demonstrating a unified approach and commitment to patient safety and care. The Hospital Safety Score was com - piled under the guidance of the nation's leading experts on patient safety and is designed to give the public information they can use to protect themselves and their families. Primary Care Physicians (PCP) announced that Franklin Pediatrics, a pediatric practice in Whippany, recently joined the 50-plus provider group. The practice has served the community for more than 65 years, and the physicians, members of the Morristown Medical Center medical staff, Fern Gotfried, MD, Julie Ashton, MD, Marisa Rosania, MD, Lauren Bregman, MD, and Donna Dick, MD, special - ize in general pediatric medicine and are committed to serving the healthcare needs of children from birth through adolescence. Dr. Gotfried earned her medical degree at CMDNJ-Rutgers Medical School in Piscataway, New Jersey, and completed her residency and fellowship in pediatrics at University of Rochester- Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York. Dr. Ashton earned her medical degree at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School and completed her residency in pediatrics at UMDNJ-University Hospital/Children's Hospital of NJ. Dr. Rosania earned her medical degree at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School in Newark, and completed her residency in pediatrics at Morristown Medical Center. Dr. Bregman earned her medical degree at St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada and completed her residency in pediatrics at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark. Dr. Dick earned her medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine and completed her residency in pediatrics at Jackson Memorial Hospital/Jackson Health System in Miami, Florida. Atlantic Health System , one of the largest not-for-profit health- care organizations in New Jersey, announced the launch of its first version of four smartphone and tablet apps, which will allow the public to better track and maintain their health, as well as quickly access hospital information and resources. There is a separate Be Well app for each of the Atlantic Health System hospitals: Morristown, Overlook and Newton Medical Centers and Goryeb Children's Hospital. The apps can be down - loaded from the App Store for Apple users and the Google Play store for Android users by search - ing "Be Well." A Chilton Medical Center app is in development and will launch this summer. The apps will be continuously enhanced with more features and functions, increasing the connectivity between users, their healthcare providers and Atlantic Health System's services.
