Nursing staff members hold certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Trauma Nursing Core Course, and the experienced Texas Health Burleson ED team is backed by physicians and facilities within the extensive Texas Health network. "The ED at Texas Health Burleson is equipped to handle cardiovascular-, trauma- and respiratory-compromised patients, and our average door-to- doctor time is 10 minutes," says Rebecca Tucker, M.H.A., M.C.A., M.B.A., vice president of integrated health campuses and administration for Texas Health Burleson. "There are also laboratory, blood bank and advanced imaging services on-site, and staff and equipment are designated specifically for the care of pediatric patients." A NEW ADDITION In early 2015, the doors will open at the new Texas Health Outpatient Center Willow Park. However, as Jerry learned more about diabetes during a chronic disease management workshop through Texas Health, he realized diabetes management was much more complex — and he wanted to help others learn, too. an hour and a half. Class leaders present valuable information about diabetes and help participants develop questions to discuss with their physicians. By participating in this program, Jerry learned how to offer his wife better support as they both worked to improve their health. As time went on, Jerry decided he wanted to help others and became certified to lead the same class he had once attended. "So many people might not know they have prediabetes and don't know how to deal with certain situations once they're diagnosed with diabetes. This class lets them ask any question and get the right answers," Jerry explains. "I'm so glad I attended this class because it means I can be a true caregiver to my wife."
