WA he American Heart Association (AHA) recently honored Jordan Valley Medical Center with the Silver Achievement Award for stroke care. The AHA Get With The Guidelines® (GWTG) - Stroke recognition program measures a hospital’s performance in caring for stroke patients. Jordan Valley staff monitored outcomes and submitted information about the treatment of stroke patients for three years. The hospital received the award after demonstrating 12 consecutive months of performance that complied with seven key measurement categories at least 85 percent of the time. The categories include the percentage of patients who receive appropriate medication or treatment for stroke as well as smoking cessation counseling and treatment during their stay at the hospital.
