Your children have been begging to help you in the kitchen. If you're unsure of the best tasks or roles for them, try these: • Start simple. Enlist your child's help preparing a salad. Your little one will enjoy tearing lettuce, dumping ingredients into a large bowl, and tossing them. • Keep assignments age-appropriate. Younger children make great rinsers, carriers, mixers, and pourers. Older ones may enjoy tackling simple recipes on their own with your guidance and supervision. • Allow experimentation. Have a picky eater on your hands? Let him or her combine foods or try unfamiliar ones. • Don't sweat the mess. Spills and stains are inevitable when children are involved. Just relax, have fun, and remember you're making memories and helping your children develop important skills. Your Little Sous Chefs ENJOYING MEALS TOGETHER brings a bounty of benefits for families, particularly children.
