The audience of 1,500 participants, many of whom were fans of Hart thanks to her best- known roles in "Sabrina the Teenage Witch," "Clarissa Explains It All" and "Melissa & Joey," lunched and eagerly listened while Hart shared personal stories and tips for success- fully balancing a busy life and the importance of taking care of yourself and making family a focus. As an award-winning actress, mother of three boys, wife, producer, author and businesswoman, Hart provided many helpful insights and life lessons by stressing that women should make time in their busy schedules for "the little things," such as shaving your legs more than once a week. While she joked about shaving legs, she also shared a very sincere glimpse into her own daily struggles as a working mom — especially one that has to travel. She uses FaceTime to check in with her family, and one time her 1-year-old son cried when he realized she wasn't home. Besides the keynote speech, another highlight of the event was the presence of "Surgio," CHRISTUS Hospital – St. Elizabeth's surgical robot with four arms and 3D high-definition vision. The da Vinci® Si robot-assisted surgical system, utilized by CHRISTUS surgeons, is the only one of its kind in the Southeast Texas region. The all-day LiveWell event, held at Ford Park and designed to empower women to improve their physical, spiritual and mental health, offered: • free health screenings • a fabulous Market Square shopping area • belly dancing lessons • presentations by physicians • seminars on the latest issues in women's health and wellness Next year's CHRISTUS LiveWell Women's Conference will be held May 7, 2015. To join the CHRISTUS LiveWell Women's Network, go to www.christuslivewell.org. With her special brand of warm and genuine humor, the glamorous Melissa Joan Hart commanded the stage of the seventh annual CHRISTUS LiveWell Women's Conference. Hart to Heart David Smith, MD, OB/GYN, talks with a participant at the da Vinci robot surgical booth. A participant takes advantage of the newest health screening, peripheral vascular screening. Women line up for their free health screenings. Participants enjoyed learning about the latest surgical technology at the da Vinci robot surgical booth.
