3 "Over a year ago, I had a tumor that showed up on a mammogram but not on an ultrasound. If Frankfort Regional radiologist Dr. Sean Owens [MD] had not suggested that I have a biopsy, the cancer might not have been discovered. After chemotherapy and radiation, I'm working on recovery now, and I feel Dr. Owens saved my life. Thank you, Dr. Owens, for your caring and perception!" — patient Dottie Crocker, Frankfort Frankfort Regional is offering extended hours with Mammo Mondays each month so you can have your screening mammogram—a potentially lifesaving test—at a time that's convenient for you. You need to schedule your appointment in advance, so call Central Scheduling today to reserve a time slot that will work for you. WHY MAMMOS MATTER The American Cancer Society recommends that all women age 40 or older have a yearly mammogram to increase the chances of detecting breast cancer in its earliest stages, when it is most treatable. In 1987, only 29 percent of women age 40 or older had screening mammograms. Today, around 70 percent of women who need mammograms have them, and since 1990, the death rate for breast cancer has dropped by more than 34 percent. Â Visit frankfortregional.com/service/mammo-mondays for the schedule of upcoming Mammo Mondays. To schedule your screening mammogram, call Central Scheduling at 502-226-1665. A physician's order is required. Growing up, Dr. Browne's dream was to become a doctor. But when the time for college arrived, she decided to major in English, instead. While in college, her brother was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and the experience rekindled her original passion for medicine. She went on to study at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and perform her residency at York Hospital in Pennsylvania. Today, Dr. Browne is living out her calling, one patient at a time. "It's an honor to play such a personal role in people's lives," Dr. Browne says. "My great- est joy is when I see that something I've done or suggested has made a positive difference in a patient's life." Dr. Browne has joined Capital Medical Group. She says she is most excited to be able to spend more one-on-one time with her new patients. "I consider myself to be a partner and guide in a person's health," Dr. Browne says. "I love helping patients get to the point where they can actually say, 'I feel good.'" In her spare time, Dr. Browne enjoys building miniature wooden houses. She lives with her husband in Henry County. Â To schedule an appointment with Dr. Browne, call Consult-A-Nurse at 877-FRMC-MD1 (877-376-2631).
