Inspirations AT THE END OF THE DAY… TAKE A MOMENT FOR YOURSELF AS YOU WRAP UP A BUSY DAY AND ENJOY THESE POSITIVE THOUGHTS FROM A SACRED HEART HOSPITAL COLLEAGUE. I REACHED A milestone a few months ago when I celebrated the big 5-0. To be honest, I had been kind of dreading that birthday. Turning 30 and 40 didn't really bother me, but 50 was another story. Getting my lovely AARP card in the mail made me feel so old. I must confess I began to wonder if my best years were now behind me. And then I had the unbelievable experience of attending a Paul McCartney concert in Minneapolis. Yep, just me, Paul, and 40,000 of his closest friends at Target Field, spending a beautiful Saturday evening together! He put on a captivating performance, singing 40 of his mega hits during a three-hour timespan (which felt like about three minutes). I had a big grin on my face as I watched this 72-year-old man singing and dancing like a 25-year-old Beatle. This wasn't someone who was sitting idly by, thinking his best years were behind him! This was a man who was thoroughly enjoying the here and now, putting on a once-in-a-lifetime show for everyone who was lucky enough to be there. Not only did I enjoy an outstanding concert that night, but I also received a much-needed attitude adjustment. Watching Sir Paul's youthful exuberance helped me realize turning 50 wasn't such a big deal after all. It's up to me to define my future, and I choose to make the most of the "long and winding road" ahead of me. The possibilities are endless. Note to self: Each decade brings its own special joys and experiences.
