West Virginia 05-758 from the Publisher E L C O M E T O T H E O c t o b er/ November/December 2014 i s s u e o f M D N e w s We s t Virginia, in which we focus on WVU Healthcare's range of cancer treat- ment services. From mobile mammograms to statewide clinical trials, WVU offers a comprehensive program for the state of West Virginia. At the forefront of WVU Healthcare's advanced treat- ment of cancer is the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center (MBRCC), offering the only bone marrow transplant program in the state, as well as clinical trials for nearly every cancer diagnosis. With the MBRCC leading it, the West Virginia Cancer Clinical Trials Network, an independent nonprofit corporation, allows individuals to receive clinical trials in their own communities. Also profiled is WVU Healthcare's Bonnie Wells Wilson Mobile Mammography Program, a breast screening clinic on wheels that brings lifesaving detection to all 55 counties in the state. From our national desk, we explore developments in earlier detec- tion of breast cancer recurrence. Specifically, in our Special Clinical Section, we survey research into the cMeth DNA assay and a blood test that brings new hope for the 2.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. We will also examine the debate that has arisen about cervical cancer screening protocols. As the largest physician marketing network, MD News is the busi- ness and practice management magazine for physicians. Our goal is to bring you the latest regional medical news and information, as well as insight into emerging research and trends on the national level. Questions, comments, suggestions?
