FROM THE PUBLISHER 1903, Since R. L. White & Son has been building custom homes for clients from all over the country. The builder is committed to quality and superior craftsmanship on any size project it does for clients on the coast and Downeast Maine. Located in Hulls Cove, which is close to one of the entrances of Cadillac Mountain, R.L. White & Son's millwork shop is in the back of its offi ce and has produced pieces of furniture for many prestigious clients, including Martha Stewart. Most of the cabinetry, kitchens and millwork in the custom homes it builds is made in the R.L. White & Son millwork shop. When homeowners choose to have a home in Maine, I can see Betty Moore PUBLISHER (781) 925-1636 T bamagma@aol.com. Greater Boston 36 Prospect Ave., Hull, MA 02045 why they choose Bar Harbor or Mount Desert Island. Mount Desert Island is home to Acadia National Park, plus four towns and quaint fi shing villages. Acadia National Park covers much of Mount Desert Island. Here, you will fi nd soaring granite cliff s, glacier-carved mountains, beautiful lakes, meadowlands and beautiful dense forests. Everywhere you go, the ocean is in sight. The sunsets are spectacular from Cadillac Mountain. The small resort towns off er the best in lodging, dining, gift shops, museums and antique stores. You can choose to stay at a bed & breakfast like the beautiful Cleftstone Manor, The Bluenose Inn or The Bayview. All are located just minutes away from the entrance to Acadia National Park and downtown Bar Harbor. The subs and suppliers were a real joy to meet and work with and all very professional. It was so nice to meet Dan McGraw. We featured Dan when he was with Atlantic Builders in November 1995. The minute I met with him, I remembered this issue. Dan is still busy doing consulting. Many of the subs, including Chris White, work or have worked on The Bluenose Inn. R. L. White & Son just built a new spa for The Bluenose Inn, and Dan is still doing the consulting. Jim Ash, general manager and co-owner of the Bluenose Inn, is dedicated to using some of the original workers on the hotel. Publishing this issue was a great experience and a lot of fun for me. I really enjoyed meeting Everett, Chris's dad. Thanks Chris, Everett and Karen for all your help.
