"This project serves as a reminder that not just individual homes, but entire subdivisions can be green certified." Developed by Barry Andrews Homes, LLC, in Port Deposit, MD, the project will have 60 acres of open space and a nature path for activities, such as walking and bird watching. The community is also close to both an organic farm and dairy farm. "What's particularly exciting about this community is the land and the homes on it are green certified," said Michael Luzier, President of the NAHB Research Center. "This means the builder is not just positively affecting the quality of life for his or her future homeowners, but he or she is also directly helping to protect the national treasure of Maryland's Chesapeake Bay with this holistic consideration of environmental impacts, literally from the ground up."
