And the Award Goes to… Frankfort Regional Medical Center has announced Stephen Hall, MD, OB/GYN, and Cindy McDonald, RN, Emergency Nurse, as the 2010 Physician and Nurse of the Year. To win this award, these recipients demonstrated collaboration, charity, a drive for excellence and a passion for quality care. Fellow employees noted that Dr. Hall shows genuine concern for his patients and does everything possible to improve patient care. Employees who nominated McDonald praised her cheerful spirit, strong work ethic and clinical excellence. Please join us in congratulating our recipients on receiving this prestigious honor! 6 This year, one of Frankfort Regional Medical Center's most outstanding employees was honored with the National HCA Employee Frist Humanitarian Award. Meet Arnold "Arnie" LeMay. Employees at Frankfort Regional are already well acquainted with Arnie LeMay, Director of Engineering. For 28 years LeMay has worked tirelessly behind the scenes at the hospital to make sure our facilities are running smoothly. But it's his work outside the walls of the hospital that have earned him HCA's most prestigious employee award on the national level. A DEDICATED MISSION LeMay has assisted with mission work in Honduras and Haiti. Using his extensive experience in biomedical engineering, LeMay installed water fi ltration systems in a small community in Hondu- ras that has given more than 400 families in the community renewable sources of clean drinking water. He lended a helping hand following Hurricane Katrina and the 2010 Haiti earthquake. LeMay also plans to visit Nigeria later this year, where he will aid in the reconstruction of a community hospital near Lagos. "Arnie epitomizes the type of person and associate Dr. Thomas Frist, Sr., the founder of HCA, felt should receive this award," says Emily Mills, RN, BSN, CIC, Nurse Manager for Infection Control & Employee Health at Frankfort Regional. "Not only is he remarkably compassionate, but he is humble, as well. I have to tell people he won this award because he never boasts about it." Not only is LeMay committed to helping those in need abroad, but he is also focused on improv- ing his community. "He has helped countless people in other countries, but he has also shown true humanitarian spirit here in our own community," says Bev Young, Director of Human Resources at Frankfort Regional. "Whether it's chopping wood for an elderly man, helping a farmer's widow harvest crops or fi xing a coworker's broken down car, Arnie has done so much for those around him." Along with the award, HCA has given LeMay $5,000 to put toward purchasing more water fi ltration systems for families in Honduras. "Winning this award on the national level is a true privilege," LeMay says. "I've learned that every act of kindness counts, no matter how small. You just have to fi nd someone who needs it."
