PO Box 447 1373 East State Road 62 Madison, Indiana 47250-0447 Quality Cancer Care: Closer Than You Think The new King's Daughters' Health Cancer Treatment Center will combine top-level oncology services with the intimacy of a community hospital. This publication in no way seeks to serve as a substitute for professional medical care. Consult your physician before undertaking any form of medical treatment or adopting any exercise program or dietary guidelines. ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY, including a wide-bore computed tomography scanner, will be a hallmark of our new center, which is scheduled to open in February 2015. "We're most excited about the Varian Clinac® iX linear accelerator for radiation therapy," says Jessica Kietzman, MBA, RN, Director of Oncology Services at KDH. "The machine will allow providers to irradiate tumors more precisely and reduce treatment times." High-tech medical and radiation oncology treatments will complement the center's commitment to following national treatment guidelines, illustrated by our accreditation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Bigger, Better and Together In addition to offering advanced treatment technologies, the center is also relocating to our main campus from its current home downtown. "Relocating to the hilltop campus will expand the center and consolidate everything in one location," Kietzman says. "Patients will no longer have to visit two facilities – one for cancer treatment and another for imaging studies and related services – when they receive care." At 15,000 square feet, the new cancer center will be approximately three times the size of its predecessor, featuring six exam rooms, two private infusion rooms and seven infusion bays with space for guests to stay with patients during lengthy chemotherapy treatments. ■ Check www.kdhmadison.org during the coming weeks for information about an open house at the new cancer center. "Close-to-home cancer care is so important, because treatment often requires frequent trips to the cancer center – sometimes five days a week – for months. Our patients deserve to have quality, specialized oncology services convenient to where they live and work." – Jessica Kietzman, MBA, RN, Director of Oncology Services at King's Daughters' Health
