Inspirations
AT THE END OF THE DAY…
TAKE A MOMENT FOR YOURSELF AS YOU WRAP UP A BUSY DAY
AND ENJOY THESE POSITIVE THOUGHTS FROM A HSHS SACRED
HEART HOSPITAL COLLEAGUE.
I RECENTLY READ an essay that posed this question: "What would you love
to tell yourself if you could travel back in time to give your 18-year-old self some
advice about life?" I was able to quickly come up with quite a few pieces of advice!
Here are my top 5:
1. Find a profession you love. Pursue your interests and talents, because you
don't want to find yourself years later working in a field you don't feel any passion
for and wondering, "How the heck am I going to do this for the next 30 years?"
2. Discover simple joys daily and appreciate the blessings in your life.
Don't take for granted those things that other people may be praying for.
3. Be the best possible you. Don't tie yourself up in knots trying to be the person you think everyone expects you to be.
Follow Judy Garland's advice: "Always be a first-rate version of yourself instead of a second-rate version of somebody else."
4. Don't let fear make choices for you. The biggest mistake you can make is doing nothing because you're too scared
to make a mistake. So don't doubt yourself. In life, it's not so much about getting a chance, but rather taking a chance.
5. People aren't mind readers, so tell them what you're thinking. Good communication will be key in so many areas
of your life.
Note to self: It's never too late to take some good advice!
