welloneconnection 5 w w w. h u r o n r e g i o n a l . o r g February marks the American Heart Association's Go Red campaign, aimed at educating women about the dangers of heart disease. This year, Huron Regional Medical Center is holding a Recipe Rehab event to show how healthy cooking can include favorite comfort foods. This year's Go Red event will be held Thursday, February 19, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Huron Arena and Huron Event Center. Kick off the evening with a walk through a mega heart display, to see how the heart keeps the body running. Then, take a seat and learn how to make a new recipe during an interactive meal experience. A Meal and More! While you enjoy a salad paired with a healthy beverage, two "celebrity" cooks will prepare two healthy versions of an Italian favorite – turkey lasagna and vegetable lasagna. The culinary teams will also tackle healthy desserts, with the cooks preparing lighter versions of pumpkin angel food and chocolate cake featuring healthy ingredients. Bring your appetite – you will have the opportunity to sample the entrées and desserts. Wrap up the evening with Travis Lehman, DO, an internal medicine physician with the HRMC Physicians Clinic, who will discuss how healthy nutrition can help reduce heart attack risks and the importance of using fresh and low-fat ingredients when cooking. Sanford Health will provide mobile screenings by appointment throughout the day, beginning at 12:30 p.m. on the north side of the Arena. There is a fee, and appointments can be made by calling 1-888-996-4673. Healthy eating has never been this fun! Join us for this year's Go Red event and bring a friend. To purchase tickets, visit www.huronregional.org or one of the information desks at HRMC. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 on the day of the event. 3 Reasons to Eat and Drink for Your HEART Recipe Rehab Is Here!
