For more "Inspirations at the End of the Day…," visit sacredhearteauclaire.org/inspirations-blog. ABOUT A YEAR AGO, my niece found herself fresh out of college and in a job she was less than enthusiastic about. She had pursued the criminal justice field, thinking she'd become a probation officer. Upon graduating, she realized she would have to begin her career in "loss and prevention"—not exactly her cup of tea. One evening, she was sitting on the sofa with her mom (my sister), complaining that she was very bored with her job. My sister asked, "If you could do anything in the world, what would it be?" My niece promptly responded, "I'd work with animals." My sister, being the smart woman she is, replied lovingly, "Well then, girl, you better get off this sofa and do something about it!" My niece quit her job and began training as a dog groomer. She now has a job she loves, working with animals, which is her passion. I have found myself inspired by my sister's words, as well. Recently, my job responsibilities have changed, so I don't write as much as I used to. While I love my new position, I must admit I had always dreamed of being a writer. When I actually got to do that for a living, I was on cloud nine. With the job shift, different responsibilities began filling my days. And then I heard my sister saying, "Get off the sofa and do something about it." I remembered that I can fulfill my passion for writing anywhere, anytime. I don't need a name badge saying "Writer" to pursue a dream that fills my heart with happiness and my soul with peace. So I began to once again intentionally set aside time to write during my spare time: during lunch, at home, in coffee shops on the weekend. If you see me, you'll probably find a pen in my hand and a smile on my face! Note to self: "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." —Eleanor Roosevelt
