1 2 I N S P I R I N G H E A LT H EVERY THREE YEARS, HSHS Sacred Heart and HSHS St. Joseph's hospitals perform community needs assessments to identify what types of health information will be most useful to Eau Claire and Chippewa Valley residents. In January 2015, HSHS Sacred Heart and HSHS St. Joseph's celebrated the beginning of a new chapter: The 3D Community Health Series, an educational wellness initiative designed to nurture body, mind, and spirit. This series consists of free, quarterly, themed sessions, each featuring three speakers who each devote 20 minutes to discussing total mind-and-body health. This year's subjects, which are based on the 2014 community needs assessment, include alcohol and drug use, chronic disease prevention, and mental health. 12 MONTHS OF WELLNESS 3D Community Health Body.Mind.Spirit also hosts a wide range of classes and events throughout the year that cover: ✳ caregiving ✳ heart health ✳ kids' health ✳ pool safety ✳ pregnancy In addition, 3D Community Health: is sponsoring QPR: Question, Persuade, Refer training at HSHS Sacred Heart and HSHS St. Joseph's to help prevent suicide, a growing concern in the Chippewa Valley. "Our ultimate goal is to provide the resources our community members need to be stronger, healthier, and happier individuals," says Rhonda Brown, Director of Chippewa Health Improvement Partnership and Division Director for 3D Community Health. "Using input from the community needs assessment to guide our programming and events allows us to offer truly valuable information." New Name, Same Mission The Center for Healthy Living at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital is now 3D Community Health: Body.Mind. Spirit for HSHS Sacred Heart and HSHS St. Joseph's hospitals. While the name has changed, the program's commitment to nurturing a healthier community through wellness events and education remains the same. "Our mission is to provide quality health education that meets our community members where they are, regardless of their age, health, or socioeconomic status," says Kelly Lauscher, 3D Community Health Educator. "The Hospital Sisters of St. Francis who founded HSHS Sacred Heart and HSHS St. Joseph's hospitals believed in caring for body, mind, and spirit.
