Get Wild About THAT LOST DOLLAR amount is called diminished value, and it can come as a shock when you sell or trade your car. Most insurance companies do not compensate policyholders for diminished value resulting from the policyholders' actions. If another driver damages your vehicle, however, you can file a diminished value claim with that individual's insurance company to recover your car's lost worth. A claims report preparer can calculate the amount of your car's diminished value, which you'll need to file the claim. Some companies will pursue the claim at no cost to you. "You have a right to compensation for damage to your property, and you shouldn't let a diminished value grievance go if it's worth pursuing," says Stephen Bass, President and CEO of Claims-Plus, Inc., a New Market-based company specializing in diminished value claims. "Most of the time, it is." WONDERING WHETHER YOU SHOULD FILE A DIMINISHED VALUE CLAIM? CONTACT CLAIMS-PLUS AT 877.379.5820 OR LOSS@CLAIMS-PLUS.COM FOR INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROCESS. 'My Car Is Worth How Much?' YOUR LATE-MODEL VEHICLE WAS RECENTLY DAMAGED IN AN ACCIDENT CAUSED BY ANOTHER DRIVER. ARE YOU AWARE THAT IT IS NOW WORTH LESS, EVEN IF IT'S WELL REPAIRED? During the month of April, NAECU offers these additional incentives for young people to start saving. 3
