Dear Friends, In today's media-rich environment, a wide variety of people have platforms to make many claims about services and products. With a quick keyword search on the Internet, you can find reviews, critiques and praise for nearly any product available. But these kinds of claims can't always carry the same weight — or truth — that word of mouth does. In this issue of Family & Friends, we turned to you, readers, to share experiences you've had at South Jersey Healthcare. As a provider of leading-edge, comprehensive medical services, SJH wants your feedback so it can continue to meet your needs. Whether it's through breakthrough radiation therapy that reduces cancer treatment time by weeks, support services or MaternityCare, read about how SJH is impacting the lives of our neighbors. Sincerely, Chet Kaletkowski President & CEO South Jersey Healthcare Editor's note: This letter was sent to the chair of the South Jersey Healthcare Board. Dear Mr. Gillespie, This letter may be overdue, but in no way does it diminish the appreciation I would like to express to the staff of the Emergency Department and third floor nursing. My mother, Angela Biaselli, was rushed to the ED at South Jersey Healthcare Regional Medical Center on March 25, 2010, suffering from end-stage congestive heart failure. Her situation was very grave. Immediately upon her arrival, Dr. Chen and Beth treated her with such care and compassion that it gave me a comfort level I didn't think possible in those circumstances. Upon being admitted, Mom was transferred to the third floor of the hospital. The nurses continued to care for Mom as if she were part of their own family. It was a long and difficult night. I stayed by Mom's side until 2 a.m. I drove home for a short time before I received the call that I should return. I arrived back at the hospital at approximately 6:30 a.m. to find Mom resting more comfortably thanks to the efforts of her night nurse, Melissa Flores. Angela Biaselli passed away peacefully at approximately 10:50 a.m. on March 26. I was at her side. I would like to acknowledge the efforts of an extraordinary nursing staff on the third floor, in particular Jennifer Clark, Flores, student nurse Kate, Alice and Lauren. Thank you so much for making what can be such a difficult journey a peaceful and comfortable transition for my mother. Sincerely, Carol R. of Glassboro, NJ Were you moved by a South Jersey Healthcare story in Family & Friends? Want to share your own? Send your experiences to feedback@sjhs.com.
