Inside Jersey Magazine and the prestigious Castle Connolly Group today named two CarePoint Health Hospitals among the top 20 in New Jersey — more than any other system in Hudson County. CarePoint Health Bayonne Medical Center was named third overall in the state among hospitals with fewer than 350 beds, and CarePoint Health Hoboken University Medical Center was 14th. Castle Connolly asked licensed physicians across the state to name the top hospitals for various medical conditions and overall care. The report can be found at castleconnolly.com/insidehospitals/ results2015/. John Theurer Cancer Center (JTCC) at Hackensack University Medical Center announced the opening of the JTCC at Palisades Medical Center, a new 9,600-square-foot outpatient facility overlooking the Hudson River and New York City skyline. JTCC was ranked the top cancer center in New Jersey by U.S. News & World Report for four consecutive years and among the top three in the New York metro area. The new center is located in the Palisades Medical Center's new outpatient pavilion in North Bergen, New Jersey. CentraState Medical Center has again achieved Magnet recognition for its nursing professionalism. Magnet recognition is determined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet Recognition Program, which ensures that rigorous standards for nursing excel - lence are met. With this credential, CentraState Medical Center is reaccredited by the Magnet community — only 7 percent of U.S. hospitals are Magnet-designated. Magnet recognition has become the gold standard for nursing excellence and is taken into consideration when the public judges healthcare organizations. To achieve Magnet recognition, organi - zations must pass a rigorous and lengthy process that demands widespread participation from leadership and staff. The process begins with submission of an electronic application, followed by written documentation demonstrating qualitative and quantitative evidence regarding patient care and outcomes. If scores from the written documentation fall within a range of excellence, an onsite visit will occur to thoroughly assess the applicant. After the rigorous onsite review process, the Commission on Magnet will review the completed appraisal report and vote to determine whether Magnet recognition will be granted. ■ Celebrating the ribbon cutting of the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital's newly renovated Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory are: Front Row (L–R): Stephern Allison, Vice President, Cardiovascular Services; Michael Antoniades, MPA, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer; Rachana Kulkarni, MD, Chair, Department of Medicine; Anthony Cava, Chief Administrative Officer; Sharan Mahal, MD.
