Folks, At Frankfort Regional Medical Center, we are always looking for ways to provide the best care to the communities we serve. With all of our growth and expansion, we've become more of a tertiary care facility than a small community hospital, yet we still strive to offer that community hospital feel and experience. One example of our growth was our 18-month, $8.4 million Emergency Department renovation, expanding our capacity from 18 to 28 beds. This has allowed us to treat patients in a more comprehensive and timely manner. With the ER expansion, we've been able to complement other services, such as interventional cardiology, where we can open up blocked arteries during a heart attack, which can and has saved lives. Soon, we will open a 12-bed geriatric psychiatric unit, and while this increases the services we offer our community, it also provides jobs and strengthens us as a business partner. In this issue of Your Health, you can read about our newest addition, pet therapy dog Tucker, who brings a calming and warm presence to patients and staff. This issue also covers our new Total Joint Boot Camp, which educates and prepares patients for joint replacement surgery. As always at Frankfort Regional, you're going to be treated as an individual, with compassion and care, like one of the family. Sincerely, Chip Peal CEO, Frankfort Regional Cover: Frankfort resident Beth Paul. Every patient should know: I truly enjoy people, and I am 100 percent invested in my patients and their best interests. That's how I look at medicine in general. I'm a patient advocate. Working in pediatrics is great because: You get to establish this relationship and become part of your patients' families. I grew up going to a family doctor, and I admired how my doctor knew everybody and got to watch kids grow up. Medical school, residency and fellowship hospitals: University of Louisville (medical school), Wright Patterson Air Force Base (pediatric residency), Dayton Children's Medical Center (pediatric residency) Specialty board certification: American Board of Pediatrics I enjoy working with the team in Frankfort because: It's a family. From the beginning, I felt welcome. It's a very diverse practice, and we are all so supportive of each other. What is important for pediatricians? We're all working together to take care of our children, to help them grow up and be successful in whatever they want to do. In my spare time I like to: Watch sports—especially University of Kentucky basketball and football. I also enjoy relaxing and spending time with my family.
