Her research focuses on management and policy issues related to the use of information technology in healthcare delivery. She also worked as an analyst at the Center for Information Technology Leadership at Partners HealthCare, and spent two years with Accenture's Health and Life Sciences strategy con- sulting practice. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University with a B.A. in human biology. Cindy L. Dunn, RN, FACMPE Dunn is a principal consul- tant with the Medical Group Management Association Health Care Consulting Group. She has more than 34 years of experience in the healthcare fi eld, with the last 22 years in medical practice administration. She is a Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives. Dunn is a member of the Health Information Management System Society Davies Ambulatory Committee, the eHealth Initiative, fac- ulty for Health IT Certifi cation, and a provider juror and meaningful use tester for the Certifi cation Commission for Health Information Technology. Lorraine Fernandes, RHIA Justin W. Lanning Fernandes is the Global Healthcare Industry Ambassador for IBM Information Management. She works to address IBM Information Management Solutions for healthcare and is the principal liaison with U.S. and international professional and industry agencies and IBM clients. She joined IBM through the company's acquisition of Initiate Systems Inc. in March 2010. She has pub- lished numerous articles about the impact of using health information technology for the improvement of individual and population health. She frequently speaks about topics of data exchange, data quality, and patient identifi cation related to patient safety, electronic health records, and customer satisfaction. She is a recipient of the AHIMA Discovery Award and CHIA Distinguished Member Award. As vice president of busi- ness development and marketing for the Midas+ Solutions Group within ACS, a Xerox company, Lanning is responsible for daily leadership of sales, mar- keting, and strategic partnerships. He joined the company in April 2011 through the acquisition of CredenceHealth, a company he co-founded and served as president and chief executive offi cer. His background includes leadership roles at Healthways Inc., MISA International, and SBC/AT&T. A graduate of Missouri State University with a degree in engineer- ing physics, Lanning is active with several organiza- tions including the Health Information Management System Society, for which he serves as president of the Tennessee chapter. 4 | HIT EXCHANGE Healthcare Business + Technology NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2011 Jeff rey Jacques, MD Board-certifi ed in internal medicine, Jacques became CMO for Aetna's Strategic Diversifi cation organization in 2011. He previously served as chief clinical innovation offi cer for ActiveHealth Management, where he played an integral role in the creation of clinical predictive models and the per- sonal health record. Jacques was a clinical faculty member and assistant attending physician in inter- nal medicine at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City. He received his medical degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in 1993 and earned his bachelor's in chemistry from Fordham University. David J. Kempson Kempson serves as CIO and vice president of technol- ogy for Maricopa Integrated Health System in Phoenix, Ariz. He is a certifi ed health- care chief information offi cer and project manage- ment professional. He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Lehigh University and an M.B.A. from the University of Arizona. McMillan McMillan is co-founder and chief executive offi cer of CynergisTek Inc., a fi rm specializing in information security and regulatory compliance for health care. He serves as the national chair for the Health Information Management System Society Privacy & Security Committee and is a former Director of Security for two Department of Defense agencies. He holds a master of arts degree in national security and strategic studies from the U.S. Naval War College and a bachelor of science degree in education from Texas A&M University. Andrew D. VanZee, FACHE VanZee is the director and CEO of health information technology for the state of Indiana (Family and Social Services Administration and Indiana Health Information Technology Inc.). VanZee previously served as vice president of operations for Logansport Memorial Hospital in Indiana. He has a master of science informational systems degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, a master of health administration from the University of South Carolina, and a bachelor of arts in biology from Knox College. Salvatore Volpe, MD, FAAP, FACP, CHCQM Volpe is board-certifi ed in pediatrics, internal medicine, geriatrics, and quality assurance. He lectures on consumer health software, e-prescribing, EHR, patient- centered medical home and physician-patient communication. He is physician liaison and clinical champion of New York City's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Primary Care Information Project and NYC REACH, and is on the board of Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Company. Volpe serves on the American Medical Association Health Information Technology Advisory Panel, as chair of the NYS Medical Society HIT committee, and as 2009-2011 president of the New York Chapter of Health Information Management System Society.
