Specifically, the accolades were given in honor of the hospital's sustained excellence in surgical care and acute conditions, including heart attack, heart failure, and pneumonia. Candidates for the Top Performer title had to meet measured benchmarks to demonstrate their commitment to and success in delivering safe, successful high-quality care. Saint Mary's is one of a select group of hospitals in the United States to earn the Top Performer honor two years in a row. IN keeping with a trend that began six years ago, Saint Mary's Hospital has earned a Gold Performance Achievement Award from the American Heart Association. e National Cardiovascular Data Registry ACTION Registry—Get With the Guidelines Gold Performance Achievement Award for 2014 was awarded to only 55 hospitals across the nation, demonstrating Saint Mary's expertise and excellence in delivering premier cardiac care for patients experiencing a heart attack. To qualify for the annual Gold Performance Achievement Award, healthcare facilities were required to demonstrate consistent adherence to the nationally recognized standards of care set forth by the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association. Achievement Award, healthcare facilities were required When It Comes to Quality, We're Tops! e Bariatric Surgery Program at Saint Mary's Hospital has achieved Comprehensive Center accreditation from the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). is accreditation formally acknowledges Saint Mary's commitment to providing and supporting quality improvement and patient safety efforts for metabolic and bariatric surgery patients. Saint Mary's program is now part of an elite group of accredited centers featured on the ACS website (www.facs.org/quality-programs/mbsaqip). Saint Mary's is one of just nine accredited programs in Connecticut.
