Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center winter 2012 Whatever you do, do it well. Welcoming New Physicians To meet the growing needs of the community, Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center is expanding its medical staff with the addition of husband and wife, Parthajeet R. Chowdhuri, MD, and Himani Singh, MD. Dr. Chowdhuri, an internist, joins Claxton-Hepburn from Pennsylvania Hospital, where he taught hospitalists full-time. He received a bachelor of science in psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles and a doctor of medicine degree from St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. Dr. Chowdhuri is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and a member of the American College of Physicians and the Society of General Internal Medicine. He says he hopes to contribute "solid, evidence-based medical practices and thoughtful, quality care to patients with focuses on preventive medicine, patient education, and community outreach." Dr. Singh, a medical oncologist, recently completed her fellowship in hematology and oncology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA, where she participated in numerous research projects and presentations focused on the use of decision aids and patient counseling in cancer care. Dr. Singh received a bachelor of science with distinction from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She then earned her doctor of medicine degree from St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. Afterward, she completed a residency in internal medicine at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, CT. She is an associate member of the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. "I look forward to helping people through a challenging time in their lives by providing quality cancer care," Dr. Singh says.
