AT THE END OF THE DAY…
TAKE A MOMENT FOR YOURSELF AS YOU WRAP UP A BUSY DAY
AND ENJOY THESE POSITIVE THOUGHTS FROM A HSHS SACRED
HEART HOSPITAL COLLEAGUE.
THE OTHER DAY I was listening to the radio, and after a rather melancholy song
the DJ commented, "Isn't it comforting to know that just when you think tomorrow
will never come, it's yesterday?"
At first I thought, "What the heck is he talking about? That's not comforting!" But
after a bit of reflection, I think I understood what he meant.
A few years ago, I lost a very good friend and mentor to cancer. Needless to say,
the grieving process was long and arduous, and there were dark days when it felt like things would never get better. It seemed
as if tomorrow––a new day––would never come. But after a while, without even realizing it, the pain began to lessen, the days
seemed a little brighter, there were more and more reasons to smile. Even though for a while I didn't believe it could happen,
the grieving days of yesterday were behind me.
Going through that process has taught me that everything in life is fleeting–– the good and the bad.
Knowing this, I realize that when life is going great, it's important to be thankful and enjoy it! But, it's equally important to
remind myself that when I'm having challenges, time is my friend.
Tomorrow is right around the corner.
Note to self: It takes both sunshine and rain to make rainbows.
