A blessing and grand opening was held February 25. • KidSTOP is also open. KidSTOP provides a more streamlined, expedited registration process for children who are scheduled for a same-day outpatient procedure, lab test, or diagnostic exam. Dozens of 11-foot colored glass panels adorn the south façade of the Children's Hospital of San Antonio. These decorative panels reflect the playful, positive atmosphere of the Hospital's interior, and complement the "Spirit of Healing" mural by Jesse Treviño. The Children's Hospital of San Antonio Emergency Center – Westover Hills opened April 28. This freestanding pediatric emergency department, located at the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa – Westover Hills campus, provides 24/7 care. Our staff includes board-certified pediatric emergency medicine physicians and specially trained pediatric nurses. The 10th and 11th floors serve as home to our Medical and Surgical Care Units, respectively. SMART Floors 10 and 11 feature an intuitive layout similar to the eighth and ninth floors, with 20 all-new, private patient rooms, a registration area, a playroom, and a large family gathering room on each floor. Every floor is marked by a distinctive color to facilitate and improve wayfinding for patients' families. The color for floor 10 is orange, while floor 11 is purple. This design element helps families find their way around the Hospital even if they forget the names of specific units. Our goal is to make accessing the Hospital as easy and family-friendly as possible. STYLISH The modern style of lower floors continues on floors 10 and 11, with clean lines, bright colors, and aesthetically appealing architectural elements. Circular shapes and patterns are also featured prominently on these floors to create a relaxed and soothing visual environment while also symbolically reinforcing our mission of restoring wholeness through healing. FAMILY CENTERED We are creating a Hospital environment that not only serves the needs of our patients, but also caters to their loved ones. As we near completion of our renovations, we're excited to see this focus on family-centered care express itself through the thoughtful layout and design features of our transformed spaces. Transformation Update Our architectural, design, and construction teams have been working to transform the Children's Hospital of San Antonio into a world-class care destination. Construction on floors 10 and 11 is complete, bringing us another step closer to our vision.
