Classes Calendar Pediatric CPR – Infant and Child This American Heart Association (AHA) course presents information about the AHA pediatric infant and child Chain of Survival, signs of choking in infants and children, reducing the risk of sudden infant death syndrome, and prevention of the most common fatal injuries in infants and children. Baby Care Basics and Breastfeeding Practical baby care information and tips for new parents. Up to two family members may attend this class with the expectant mom. Childbirth Education A two-week interactive class series designed for the expectant mom and a support person. Class should be scheduled during the fourth to fifth month of pregnancy. Breast Cancer Survivor Retreat Casting for Recovery, a support and educational program for breast cancer survivors, will be hosting its first Georgia retreat April 20-22, at Smithgall Woods State Park in Helen, Georgia. The weekend retreat will incorporate fly-fishing to promote physical and emotional healing and is FREE to qualifying breast cancer survivors in any stage of their recovery. Tours begin in the Turner Maternal & Infant Care Center lobby and will be held on the following Tuesdays: Feb. 7 at 6 pm, Feb. 14 at 10 am, and March 13 at 10 am. 18 | 19 Winter 2012 Dare to Care This two-part cardiovascular disease program is free to men and women over the age of 60 and those over the age of 50 with vascular risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, smoking, or a family history of vascular disease. Screening includes a blood pressure check and a non-invasive ultrasound examination of the carotid arteries, abdominal aorta, and the circulation of the legs. For more information, call 706.272.6022.
