HELLO, Celebrating the Fourth of July is one of the best parts of summer. You might barbecue with your family, watch fireworks or even go to a parade. At CHRISTUS Health Shreveport-Bossier, we think it's an opportunity to remember the values on which our country was founded and the men and women who have honored these ideals through service in the military and fire and police departments. This issue of LiveWell is dedicated to our CHRISTUS Health Shreveport-Bossier family members with a military or first-responder connection. Our cover story features a local firefighter, Craig Bond, whose life was changed by a cancer diagnosis. It was our privilege to care for Craig, and we are very proud of his efforts today within the firefighting community to promote cancer awareness. We are excited to introduce you to several CHRISTUS Health Shreveport-Bossier associates and volunteers who, like me, served in the military or with local emergency services. We hope their stories will be an inspiration to you. And don't miss the story of Isabella, the baby daughter of a family who have devoted their lives to military service. We celebrate Isabella's strength and will to survive against the odds. As a 22-year veteran of the United States Army Medical Service Corps, I too believe in service to country. I believe we are a community, meant to care for one another and to work together. And I am honored to be a part of CHRISTUS Health Shreveport-Bossier, where that commitment to community is very strong.
