Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Hood, Texas. A desire to relocate to central Texas brought Dr. Hoyt to Jasper, where he embraced the opportunity to build and shape his own medical practice while also fulfilling a much-needed role in our area. "I've made Jasper my home, and I am excited to be a member of this community," Dr. Hoyt says. "Practicing in Jasper helps ensure the people of Southeast Texas receive the care they need locally." A DIVERSE BACKGROUND Dr. Hoyt completed his medical degree at New York Medical College. He performed his internship at Madigan Army Medical Center and his residency at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center. Dr. Hoyt specialized in general surgery because he wanted to treat a wide variety of medical conditions. "As a general surgeon, I am a doctor of medicine and a doctor of surgery, which is challenging on many levels," Dr. Hoyt says. "The gratifying thing about surgery is that, in the majority of cases, performing an operation provides a cure for the patient's medical problem." Following his residency, Dr. Hoyt spent six years practicing at Bassett Army Community Hospital in Alaska before arriving in Fort Hood two years ago. At CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Jasper Memorial, Dr. Hoyt performs acute care surgery for patients who have sustained a traumatic injury or are in need of emergency surgery or advanced laparoscopy or endoscopy. He also does operations traditionally associated with general surgery, such as appendectomy and gallbladder removal. In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Hoyt is a member of the U.S. Army Reserves and has completed three overseas tours — one in Iraq and two in Afghanistan. In his free time, Dr. Hoyt is an avid fresh and saltwater fisherman and enjoys bowhunting. For a referral to Dr. Hoyt, call (866) 683-3627. On April 13, CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Jasper Memorial hospital welcomed a new member of the medical team: Christopher Hoyt, M.D., general surgeon. Puing Down Rt IN JASPER
