These moments—whether caring for patients, holding the hand of a sick child, or offering consolation and hope—are representative of how we operate as a hospital. They are moments of “inspiring connections.” Phoenix Children’s is pleased to share our 2014–15 community report, which celebrates the many ways in which inspiring connections are cultivated and achieved across our footprint. We have built one of the largest children’s hospital systems in the country, while creating and fostering an entrepreneurial spirit that attracts top physician talent, opens doors to strategic partnerships, fuels new research, and allows us to deliver the care our patients deserve. With each passing year, we advance our mission to be the premier regional pediatric center in the Southwest. With the help of our entire hospital team—4,200 people strong with 1,000 physicians on medical staff—this was another phenomenal year for Phoenix Children’s with many noteworthy accomplishments, including: •

The annual tradition of being named a “Best Children’s Hospital” by U.S. News & World Report •
The emerging success story of Phoenix Children’s Care Network, the largest pediatric clinically integrated organization in the Southwest •
An unprecedented joint collaboration on pediatric translational genomics: The Chan Soon-Shiong Children’s Precision Medicine Institute •
Our continued expansion with the opening of a new pediatric inpatient unit in Dignity Health Mercy Gilbert Medical Center •
Continued successes with our strategic partners, including Barrow Neurological Institute, University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix, Mayo Clinic Arizona, and Arizona State University. While we are proud to celebrate these achievements, we cannot take success for granted. With our fingers on the pulse of pediatrics today and a strategic eye toward the future, Phoenix Children’s will continue to: •
Control operating costs, which remain among the lowest against comparable children’s hospitals across the country •
Develop a world-class research and technology infrastructure to solve the health challenges of tomorrow •
Offer Valley businesses and their employees the best choice in pediatric health care. As we look to the future of Phoenix Children’s, we will continue inspiring connections. As always, I am delighted to share our successes with you, and thank you for your continued support of Phoenix Children’s. Sincerely, Robert L. Meyer President and CEO Mission: We provide hope, healing and the best health care for children and their families. Look inside for digital edition exclusives.
