Creativity Empowers Focus on Our Future Every three years, we gather input from all of our stakeholders (sta, parents/guardians, people supported, etc.) to develop planning initiatives for our services into the future. We made great progress in the rst two years of the current Strategic Plan and have decided upon the following initiatives for 2016: QUALITY Implement all Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL) Person Centered Excellence (PCE) action plans as required. GROWTH Develop comprehensive Alzheimer's awareness, education, and options for the aging Developmental Disabilities population. EXCELLENCE CHI Friendship will continue to reduce turnover and increase employee satisfaction as measured by our Performance Culture Assessment. PEOPLE Streamline job duties within the Direct Support Professional role to be able to provide more direct support time (Coordinator, Supervisor, Manager, and Employment Specialist). When Adam Hammer, a resident of Fargo, isn't assisting customers at Walmart or creating comic book costumes for metro area comic conventions, he spends his time communicating through his artwork. In 2005, Adam bravely began sharing his hand drawings with Suzanne Hanson, his CHI Friendship Employment Specialist. She immediately realized his talent, as did the rest of the CHI Friendship sta. "We should never prejudge people based on how they communicate," Hanson said. "Give people a chance to feel comfortable, and they will share some of these talents." That same year, Adam began participating in DeviantArt, an online network of more than 36 million other creatives who share their work. Through this outlet, he explores fantasy and life through his valued perspective and powerful storytelling. Artwork connects Adam to a larger story, the human experience of nding meaning and presence within the context of community. He truly has found a way to embrace a healthy spirit.
