arts & life a t h o m e 46 October 8 • 2015 TOP: The homeowner found the waterfall island's exquisitely grained Corteccia quartz — a more user- friendly alternative to marble. "I wanted it to be different and cool and special," she says. BOTTOM: Kory added a glass railing in the home's foyer, adding a floating, jewel-like finish to the soft warm gray-stained oak floors and wood balusters, while grasscloth- covered walls add texture. The Keith Haring painting is from the Danielle Peleg Gallery in West Bloomfield Township. "Ady [Danielle's son] is amazing," says Kory. "He brought in a bunch of pieces. He understands that people have to live with the art for a while. In a home like this, with massive walls, you have to feel it." The homeowner agrees. "He was like, 'You like this? We'll frame it, we'll hang it here and we'll be done before your company comes for dinner.'" OPPOSITE: "They wanted an edgier feel, rather than a traditional dining table," says Kory of the oversized square table, whose custom walnut veneer base is topped with an expanse of glass; the square crystal pendant chandelier precisely matches the proportions of the base. Creamy velour chairs with cut-out backs mix with a pair of benches in metallic faux leather. Kory found the painting at Peleg Gallery. "It's like someone came here and painted it exactly for this house," says the homeowner. "It fits that perfectly." continued from page 45 continued on page 48
