In the 'Know' E very year, the Minnesota Hospital Association recognizes healthcare professionals from across the state who work diligently to ensure patient safety and well-being. Known as the Good Catch Award, this honor recognizes healthcare professionals who have acted to prevent serious health risks for patients. Statewide, one healthcare professional is recognized quarterly for his or her commitment to patient safety and providing excellence in care. CHI St. Joseph's Health staff member Sherrie Eischens, RN, ACU, was awarded the Good Catch Award for the first quarter of 2015 after she spoke up when she discovered that a written order for a patient test from a clinic conflicted with the patient's understanding of the test site. The surgeon checked the scans and confirmed the patient was correct. Thanks to the dedication and actions of Eischens and the rest of the CHI St. Joseph's Health staff, patients and families can rest assured they have access to high-quality medical care administered by caring and effective healthcare professionals. We strive to go above and beyond expectation for each individual we care for, and the Good Catch Award recognition earned by Eischens is an example of this commitment. T his year, Becker's Hospital Review released its first list of "50 Critical Access Hospitals to Know" in the United States and "50 Critical Access Hospital CEOs to Know" in the United States. We are proud to announce that both CHI St. Joseph's Health and CHI St. Joseph's Health President Ben Koppelman were named to these two premier lists. Good Catch! Award The lists recognize critical access hospitals nationwide that provide superior health services in primarily rural areas as well as the leaders who guide the facilities to success. Rural access facilities often face unique challenges, and those that continue to provide high levels of effective patient care do so by continually making quality care a top priority. Becker's Hospital Review compiled its list of 50 critical access facilities by analyzing hospital data, including patient satisfaction scores, as well as other awards and recognitions earned by the facilities. Under Koppelman's leadership and guidance, CHI St. Joseph's Health has achieved success and earned recognition from multiple state and national organizations for patient safety and quality health care. We are proud to represent our region as a facility named to these prestigious lists. We are committed to continue bringing residents of our area the health services they need and the quality of care they deserve. "I am proud of our entire team and the work that they do each day to care for our patients and our community." CHI ST.
